Description

GitAgent is a free, open-source specification that turns a Git repository into a portable AI agent definition, created by Shreyas Kapale at Lyzr Research Labs. An agent's identity and behavior are described in plain files — a `gitagent.yaml` config plus `SOUL.md` (personality and purpose) and `RULES.md` (behavioral constraints) — and the GitAgent CLI exports that single definition to whatever framework you actually want to run it on: Claude, OpenAI, CrewAI, LangChain, or AutoGen. It is explicitly not an agent runtime itself; it is a definition layer, similar to how a Dockerfile separates an application's definition from its runtime. Because agent definitions live as plain text in a Git repo, teams get real branching, diffing, blame, and pull-request review for agent configs the same way they would for code. In independent hands-on testing, setup took about 15 minutes for someone comfortable with Git and YAML, and exports to Claude and OpenAI worked cleanly, while CrewAI export needed minor manual adjustment for complex multi-agent setups and LangChain export was functional but less polished; AutoGen export moved from experimental to stable in a July 2026 CLI update. It is MIT licensed with no hosted service, no SaaS dashboard, and no paid tier — genuinely free forever, with the only real cost being whatever the underlying LLM provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) charges to actually run the agent.

OpenCodeReview is an open source, AI-powered CLI tool for automated code review, letting developers run precise, structured review checks on their codebase from the command line without a hosted third-party service. It is aimed at engineering teams that want automated code review integrated into their own CI/CD pipeline and prefer an open source, self-hosted tool over a closed SaaS code-review product.
